Core Aeration / Overseeding

  • Reduce thatch layer
  • Reduce soil compaction
  • Increased air and water movement
  • Thicken turf
  • Experienced operator

Core Aeration is one of the most important procedures you can do for your lawn. Aerating your lawn will help your lawn in many ways. It will help by reducing soil compaction, reducing the thatch layer and loosening the soil. All of these results help air, water and fertilizer get down to the root system so it can aid your turf's health and appearance.

Core Aeration & Overseedig by Froess Outdoor Services

You can try to do the aeration yourself by renting an aerator from your local rental center if you have a truck and/or trailer. We've had many of our customers aerate on their own.....once! After they have completed the process most vow never to do it again. Not only is it time consuming, it is very physically demanding.

Army Worm Damage to Fescue Needs Core Aeration/Overseeding

After the aeration process is complete is the ideal time to overseed your lawn. The overseeding helps your lawn by introducing new grass plants to your lawn. This will help thicken the lawn and fill in bare areas. This is highly recommended especially in turf type fescue lawns since fescue does not reseed on its own and over time the lawn will continue to thin out. Even zoysia and bermuda grass benefit from core aeration. Those lawns need aeration completed in summer during the growing season.

All lawns in Freeburg, Waterloo, Belleville and the surrounding areas need aerating at least every other year for optimum results. Some lawns will need it every year and all will benefit from it each year.
